Leisure at the Victoria Falls Hotel

While on a visit to Victoria Falls, I enjoyed the loveliness that is the Victoria Falls Hotel.

The hotel is a remnant of colonial times, now a lovely tucked away spot overlooking Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

What a serene spot to escape the African heat!

Good friends, good tea, and the roar of the Falls = lovely.

The hotel is wonderful for its attention to detail, its historical artifacts, and its stunning view.

Isn't this Bird of Paradise just stunning?  Zimbabwe is full of such colorful, beautiful flowering trees and plants.

I may have started to dose here while listening to a pianist.  Just perfect.

Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge

During a trip to Gonarezhou National Park, Zimbabwe, on the Mozambique-South Africa border, I visited Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge.

and voila!  My room.

I loved, loved, loved the lodge's stairs.

Chilo Gorge was so incredibly relaxing.

And the lodge was beautiful.

The Ivory Lodge

After a lovely visit to Matopos, we visited the Ivory Lodge for a wonderful safari.

The cottages are cozy and built on stilts...so different from the last time I stayed somewhere with stilts!

I confess: I fell asleep here in the warmth of the sun.

The Ivory Lodge is known for its frequent visitors: the Presidential herd.

I love, love, love how giraffes drink.

Although I suspect I love baby elephants a lot more....

Camp Amalinda

On a road trip throughout Zimbabwe, we stayed at Camp Amalinda in Matopos, Zimbabwe.

How awesome is this bathroom?

Camp Amalinda is so well designed that everything blends so well into the surrounding landscape.

Some of the rooms are built into caves with ancient paintings.

This pool was built into the rock and was so amazingly serene.

I want a library like this.
