All the guide books on Swakopmund, Namibia, claim that the town is often called more German than Germany.
It's Germany's one colony in Africa and many of the residents still speak German.
Either way you fall on the argument, I was pretty super stoked to find this excellent hefeweizen.
...right after wandering through Bismarck St.
Visited Peter's Antiques which has a quirky-must-peek-and-see-what's there quality.
And what was there? Medals from the Third Reich...and personal photos of Hitler. Very surreal. Especially in Africa.
The German colonial architecture was beautiful. And like Germany, Namibia ran like clockwork. Very, very, very different from Senegal.
Whether you buy the "more German than Germany" line, it's definitely heavily influenced by its German heritage.
How awesome was this truck?!
And naturally, started the visit to Swakopmund with a German hefeweizen, so I must end with the Windhoek lager in a shout out to Namibia!
Yummmyy beer!
